The “Whose ’68?” Film Festival
The year 1968 was a strange one in the United States, but what was happening here was only a part of a ferment that reached almost every corner of the globe. Screened in conjunction with my “Film, Politics and the Sixties” class, the “Whose ’68?” film festival, which I put together with Geoff King, took a shot at presenting the larger picture. That meant looking at the origins, events and legacies of what happened in Chicago, Paris, Tokyo, Germany, Mexico City, Prague… There’s still no good English-language or subtitled movie about Mexico City. If you find one, let me know.
