Mana – Mi Verdad

In a business that defines stardom through record sales, concert attendance and awards, Maná has carved out a niche of its own with almost 50 number one hits, many dozens of gold records, and countless Grammys and Latin Grammys to go along with 15 Premio los Nuestros from the Spanish-Language television network Univision. But what truly sets the band from Guadalajara apart is the quality and variety of its music from the breakthrough album ¿Dónde Jugarán Los Niños? in 1992 to this meditative duet with Shakira from its 2015 masterpiece Cama Incendiana. Built around the vocal versatility of Fher Olivdera, Maná’s line-up has been remarkably stable over three decades; the sweet guitar licks of Sergio Vallin and the rock solid rhythm section of drummer Alex González, bassist Juan Calleros match any in the history of rock and roll. “Mi Verdad” highlights the quieter side of Maná’s music. For a sense of their breadth, follow it up with “Clavado en un bar” or “Si No Te Hubieras Ido.”
